From News Center (Text by Guo Qi, School of Arts; Photo by Li Gang, School of Arts) On April 13, the "Fashion Design & Technology" Competition of the 2022 Guangxi Vocational College Skills Competition, organized by the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, kicked off in Nanning. The competition lasted for two days as a team competition. The team of each institution consisted of two contestants who participated in the competition of apparel design and garment plate-making technology respectively. Under the guidance of Li Gang and Guo Qi from the School of Arts, the three groups of contestants consisting of Xu Can, Zhang Haiming, Huang Meixian, Huang Ximei, Hu Yangyang, and Zou Zhimin, who majored in Clothing and Clothing Design, and Apparel Design and Technology enrolled in 2020 of LVTC, finally won three third prizes after fighting with exquisite skills and good psychological quality.

This year, the competition changed its content from previous ones and increased the assessment of the comprehensive ability of both contestants in one team. The competition mainly tests the contestants' professional quality, comprehensive analysis, and various skills such as original clothing style design, style development design, clothing three-dimensional modeling, clothing pattern making, plate-making, material arrangement, clothing cutting, and crafting. The college insists on the philosophy of cultivating students with "a solid foundation, outstanding skills, and excellent quality". Under the great attention of the department heads, the practical training equipment was added in time according to the new content of the competition. Overcoming the setbacks brought about by the pandemic, the instructing team worked out a detailed tutoring program with the division of labor and responsibility to let the students undergo intensive training, despite heavy teaching tasks and short preparation time.

The hard work has finally brought success. The School of Art will learn more from the competition and insist on promoting reform, teaching, learning, practice, development, and the integration with innovation through the competition.
